My army: Space Wolves -Wolf Lord Dusldorf with frost blade, storm shield, bike, runic armor, runic charm, wolf pelt, frag grenades -Battle leader with frost blade, terminator armor, cyclone missile launcher, runic charm, wolf tooth necklace, wolf pelt -Ven Dread with assault cannon, heavy flamer, extra armor, smoke launchers -6x Wolf Scouts with frags, 2 power weapons, flamer, melta bombs -Iron clad with heavy flamer, chain fist, drop pod -8x Blood claws with 2 fists, flamer, rhino with extra armor and smoke -14x Blood claws with 3 fists, flamer -8x Grey Hunters with 2 plasma pistols, meltagun, power weapon, power fist, drop pod -2 attack bikes with multi-meltas -Land speeder with multi-melta -Leman russ exterminator with hull and sponson heavy bolters, extra armor, smoke
I’ve never written a battle report before, so this one turned out a lot longer than I thought it would. The next ones will be much shorter.
Round 1: Annihilation + Stand Off (short table edge deployment)
Secondary _object_ive: Perilous Sky (+2 battle points for each fast attack choice you have over your opponent alive at the end of the game)
Board terrain consisted of three forests and a “high grass” patch of terrain that only afforded 5+ cover. Stand off deployment divides the board into three 2’ x 4’ sections. The center section is not a deployment zone. When a p_layer_ deploys, he chooses both a short edge section *and* a long edge to be his reserve edge.
Opponent: Imperial Fists -Lysander -4x 10-man Tactical Squads with ML, Flamer -Ven Dread with HF, TL-HF, Extra Armor + Drop pod with deathwind launcher -Ven Dread with assault cannon -Ven dread with 2 TL-Autocannon -3x Vindicators with dozer blades
He wins the deployment roll and deploys his entire army (except for the ven in the drop pod) all along the edge of his deployment zone closest to the center of the board, expecting me to deploy and be within range of his vindicators by turn 2. Lysander joined a tac squad about 3’ away from my reserve edge. I deploy my Leman Russ in the far corner of the board, perhaps in range of just one of his missile launchers. My land speeder is set to deep strike, and I put the rest of my army in regular reserve. Dusldorf rides with the attack bikes, while the battle leader joins the grey hunters in their drop pod.
Turn 1: Imperial Fists
He drops his venerable dreadnought next to my Leman, but cant hurt it since it is only armed with heavy flamers. He forgets to pop smoke with it. Having noticed that I’d be coming on a long table edge within charging distance of one of his tac squads and a vindicator, he moves his force back away from my reserve edge, popping smoke on all of his vindicators and moving Lysander’s unit along with the other tac squads towards my edge. He also runs, moving into the two forests in his deployment zone. Turn 1: Space Wolves
My ironclad drops in next to one of his vindicators in the center of the board, inside of his assault cannon dreadnought’s assault range. I move my Leman 12” away from his flamer dread and face my hull to his army instead of popping smoke. I shoot the vindicator. It explodes, leaving a much less terrifying crater in its place.
Kill points – SW: 1 / IF: 0
Turn 2: Imperial Fists
He finishes positioning his marines in the forests, along the edge of each that faces my reserve edge. Lysander’s unit takes a position in the center of the board, waiting to see where I’ll show up. His flamer dread chases after my leman russ, but is still obviously out of assault range, so he runs. He shoots everything minus Lysander’s unit at my ironclad, failing to do more than shake it. One vindicator attempts to shoot at my leman russ, but its shot falls short by less than an inch. He charges my ironclad with his assault cannon dread. The dreads bitchslap each other and end up as wrecks.
Turn 2: Space Wolves
Everything except for my drop pod and scout squad arrives. I move the bikes up on his right flank, positioning myself for a good side shot against another vindicator. My large blood claw unit walks on, aiming for the nearest tactical squad to the right of the center of the board and ~18” away from my edge. My land speeder deep strikes on the left flank, aiming for his drop pod and an easy killpoint. My rhino drives on to the left of the large blood claw unit, with the venerable taking cover to its left and slightly behind it. The leman drives another 12” towards the blood claws that just arrived, not eager to be crushed by his dread without someone to avenge it. It also pops smoke. The land speeder takes out the pod, while the bikes manage to stun their target and destroy its demolisher cannon (phew!). My venerable shoots four times into the side of his second vindicator and stun its crew. The horde of blood claws runs forward.
Kill points – SW: 3 / IF: 1
Turn 3: Imperial Fists
He moves Lysander and his unit closer to me, and is now roughly 24” away. Everything else of his stays put since it is either being treated as a gun platform or stunned. He kills two blood claws and wounds my attack bike unit once. The heavy flamer dread stops chasing the leman russ and instead moves toward Lysander at the center of the board.
Turn 3: Space Wolves Everything else arrives. I deepstrike my drop pod full of grey hunters and the wolf guard battle leader into the corner opposite where all my other units are coming on, preparing to simply sit and shoot for the rest of the game. The scouts hug my table edge and space 2” apart. I don’t want to give out a free KP. The mob of blood claws moves 6” closer to the nearest tac squad. The wolf lord drives over to join this unit and extend its charge range, while his former unit of attack bikes turbo boosts in front of my scouts, giving them cover. My rhino moves 12” to get closer to a unit of tac marines that were hanging out in a forest behind the vindicator that the bikes blew up. My venerable walks closer to the vindicator it shot last turn, and manages to immobilize and shake it. I charge the near tac squad with the big blood claw unit and the wolf lord and it gets wiped out without a problem.
Kill points – SW: 4 / IF: 1
Turn 4: Imperial Fists
Now that a closer target has presented itself, Lysander moves towards my grey hunters and battle leader, leaving his unit of tac marines behind. He moves nothing again. He probably expected a vindicator or two to be usable. He does one or two wounds to the big blood claw unit and fails to kill the rhino with two krak missiles.
Turn 4: Space Wolves
I move my grey hunters away from Lysander and move the big blood claw unit closer to the next tac squad. My land speeder turbo boosts into the corner of the board. Since Lysander is nowhere near, none of these squads stand a chance (no power fists). The Leman russ and battle leader open up on Lysander, causing a wound. My attack bikes shoot his autocannon dreadnought, leaving it a wreck. The wolf lord and blood claws charge the new unit and wipe it out.
Kill points – SW: 6 / IF: 1
Turn 5: Imperial Fists
Lysander keeps walking by himself toward my grey hunters. His tac squads sit and shoot, and he again kills nothing but a couple of blood claws.
Turn 5: Space Wolves
I have no more nearby targets for assault, so I move my bikes near to his last vindicator and blow it up. Game over.
Kill points – SW: 7 / IF: 1
Secondary _object_ives – SW: 4 (2 FA choices alive) / IF: 0 (0 FA choices alive)

Round 2: Recon with Spearhead deployment
Secondary _object_ive: Mismatch (1 BP for each TP choice killed by an EL choice)
Opponent: Orks
Ghazghkull Thraka 12 Trukk Boyz, Bosspole, Power klaw, Reinforced ram 12 Trukk Boyz, Bosspole, Power klaw, Reinforced ram 18 ‘Ard Boyz, Bosspole, Power klaw 27 Gretchin, 2 Runtherd 10 Nobz, Power klaw, big choppa, stikkbombs, painboy, trukk, reinforced ram 15 Lootas Battlewagon, kannon, grot rigger, red paint, reinforced ram 5 Deffkoptas, 2 buzzsaw
Trahern took first turn and left only a boyz trukk in reserve. Ghaz rode with the ard boyz in the wagon. I put everything in true reserve except my scouts who went into reserve on his table edge and my land speeder deep sriking. This game was hilarious…His lootas were in his corner of the board surrounded by grots, but he had left a space behind the two units that was just big enough for a drop pod and ironclad…. On turn one I dropped my ironclad into this patch and popped smoke, forcing him to deal with it. Knowing that the lootas would probably not be able to hurt it, he made a path for his nob truck to get through and charged me with them, and they stayed in combat until the top of turn 4 with him winning the combat. When my squads came in from reserve I split them up into two groups: big unit of blood claws, wolf lord + attack bikes, and leman russ doing defense in my table quarter; blood claw rhino, venerable dreadnought, and grey hunters + battle leader doing offense. I was very careful not to let any of my units get within 30” of his battlewagon, which, with ghaz’s waagh, is his approximate charge range out of the battle wagon. This forced him to choose a side of the board to support rather than wait for me to present an easy target to him. He remained indecisive until turn 4, but immobilized himself still out of charge range and more than 12” away from both sets of _object_ives! This made me very happy, as his hardboys couldn’t approach the _object_ives and get the charge off – if it had gone to turn 6, I would have been able to wipe the unit out easily. Where I was going for _object_ives, the only thing that stood in my way on turn 5 was a trukk contesting an _object_ive, but I blew it up no problem. Ghazgull would have been able to charge on turn 6, but I had a venerable, my battle leader, 4 blood claws and 7 grey hunters who would counter charge. Win to the space wolves on turn 5! No secondaries.

Round 3: Hold the Line with Dawn of War deployment.
Secondary _object_ive: Overrun (+3 BP for every uncontested _object_ive simultaneously held by two troop choices).
Opponent: Tyranids Tyrant, extended carapace, flesh hooks, toxin saccs, lash whip + bone sword, scything talons, the horror, warp blast, 2 guard, flesh hooks, lash whips, rending claws Broodlord, extended carapace, feeder tendrils, rending claws, scything talons Lictor 12 Gaunts with spinefists 4x 7-man genestealer units with extended carapace, feeder tendrils, scuttle, and rending claws 4 Raveners with rending claws and scything talons 2 Heavy fexes, enhanced senses, extended carapace, barbed strangler, venom cannon Elite fex with enhanced senses and TL devourer Elite fex with scything talons and barbed strangler
This scenario was weird because it was 5 _object_ives, all spaced evenly along the center line: a true “hold the line” scenario.
I gave wadders 1st turn and he deployed just his gaunts in a building, with his big bugs coming on turn 1, all genestealer units outflanking, raveners in reserve, and lictor deepstriking. Things were back-and-forth until around turn 4. I killed a good number of gene stealers with the leman russ and got tied in combat with both of my dreadnoughts, who eventually won vs the brood lord and 2 units of stealers. Darren would kill 3-4 models per turn with shooting, and nothing aside from the dreadnoughts/stealers and his lictor had yet gotten into combat. In order to hold any _object_ives I had to bring down his hive tyrant. Miraculously, a collection of wounds from my grey hunter unit were distributed with 3 non-AP 2/1 being placed on the tyrant…TRIPLE 1! It died on the bottom of turn 4 after killing 8 troop models just by himself. I had no scoring units left but if that hadn’t happened I would have lost a lot more. Darren held one _object_ive on one far side of the board with around 6 genestealers and another in the same building that his gaunts started out in with only one gaunt. Bottom of turn 5 I drove my rhino and scouts to contest the genestealer-held _object_ive, flamed/shot them and killed 4. I only had three guns to shoot at the last remaining gaunt..The Leman and two drop pods. First: The Leman russ had LOS with only one Heavy bolter sponson. 2 wounds, and he goes to ground saving both. Two wounds from the first drop pod…he saves it…One wound from the last drop pod and…ONE! It goes down, the game ends, and it’s a draw on turn 5.

Round 4: 4 _object_ives with Echelon deployment (modified diagonal table quarters).
Secondary _object_ive: assassination (+2 BP for every HQ killed, +1 if it’s a special character)
Opponent: Space Marines
Pedro Librarian with T. Armor, Storm shieldGate of infinity and null zone 9 Sternguard with 2 meltaguns, 6 combi-meltas, power fist. 8 Sternguard with 2 meltaguns, 6 combi-meltas, power fist 2x 10-man tac squads with meltagun and missile launcher, power fist 5 scouts with bp/ccw, combi-melta, power fist, camo cloaks Land speeder storm with heavy flamer Land raider with extra armor, multimelta 3 Rhinos with dozer blade
Jason chooses to go first and deploys his entire army minus the storm which outflanks with the scouts. I deploy my Leman russ so that it gets a cover save and put my army in true reserve except the scouts which outflank, and the speeder which deep strikes. Turn 1 he does nothing to the russ and moves his rhinos around a little bit. In response, I drop my ironclad right behind his land raider and explode it, killing 4 models but failing to pin/scare away the unit (it was the large sternguard squad plus the librarian/pedro). At the bottom of turn 5 I was holding 2 _object_ives to his 1, but it went on and then my controlling units got charged by a bunch of stuff. All but the unit that didn’t really need it failed their counter-attack leaderships, dooming me to a draw. I did manage to kill Pedro with a power fist on the very last turn.
Draw Secondaries: SW: 3 (Pedro) / SM: 2 (Wolf lord)
